INGREDIENTS

  • King Hawaiian Rolls, original variety (12 or 24 count), intact

  • 1/2 lbs deli sliced ham

  • 12 slices your favorite white cheese (I use Haverty)

  • Half stick of butter

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tbs sweet honey mustard

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º.

  2. Being careful with the bread so the rolls don't separate, place on a cutting board, place your hand on top to keep it in place, then slice through it to form a top and bottom.

  3. Lightly grease a baking dish or sheet pan to contain the bread and place the bottom portion in it. Layer the ham across the top, then the cheese.

  4. In a small pan, melt the butter until bubbling and add the flour. Cook till foamy over medium heat about three minutes. Add the milk and cook till thickened. Remove from heat and whisk in the mustard, salt, and pepper.

  5. Pour over the cheese. Place the top portion of the bread on the rest. Bake 10 to 15 minutes until the bread is browned and the cheese is melted.

  6. While still in the baking dish, use a very sharp knife to cut up the individual sandwiches.
