Hot Chocolate
It’s going to be cold this weekend for most of the nation, so how about a really good hot chocolate recipe? This is the one I make for my wife and daughter. You can use standard Hershey’s cocoa for it. If you can find it, use Droste.
Ingredients
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
6 cups of milk (whole, 2%, and skim are fine, or you can use water instead)
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1 tbs per serving of amaretto (optional)
Whipped cream and caramel sauce (optional)
Directions
Combine cocoa and condensed milk in a large pot. Whisk thoroughly to blend together.
Turn the stove to medium heat and add milk, vanilla, and salt, whisking constantly.
Whisk regularly as the milk heats until steaming.
If using, add amaretto to coffee mugs. Pour in hot chocolate.
Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream.
Optional
If you have a high-speed blender like a Vitamix with a soup setting, substitute water for the milk. Add the ingredients to the blender and use the soup setting.
